This nocturne does not share any affinity – if not in mood – with the homologous form by the Irish composer J. Field (1782 – 1837). Anzaghi's nocturne tinges lunar sonorities from which ephemeral and lyric effusionsdiscreetly emerge. Pianism is that quality which the author, himself a pianist, has mastered in an itenerary of multiple experiences dedicated to the keyboard. These words by P.Corneille meet the needs of a description: Cette obscure clarté qui tombe des étoiles. (That dark clarity which falls from the stars.)
