The gestation of this composition was influenced by the uncertainty and delay with which the Biennale di Venezia (the bi-annual festival of Venice), which itself suffered from the delays and uncertainties of others, made known the final instrumentation with which the author might present his work, in 2001.

In the first dialogues between B. Canino (at the time director of the Musical Festival) and the author some short-lived arrangements were made. Piano (or two pianos) and disklavier were spoken of, but without clarifying whether these insturments were all to be used (2 pianos and disklavier) or in pairs (1 piano with disklavier) or just the solo disklavier. While awaiting confirmation the author set to work, concentrating on the version for two pianos (bearing the title Klaviermusicduo). This had the good point of being easily re-written for piano and disklavier on the one hand, whilst on the other allowing for an easier performance circulation of the version using the disklavier in the event of a lack of confirmation.

The confirmation was ever delayed. In the meantime the composiiton for two pianos went ahead and came to a level of satisfactory completion. In the end the confirmation came, but specifying that the instrumentation would be for piano and disklavier, and so one of the piano parts was re-written.

Thus three versions of the same musical material exist: for piano solo (Klaviermusicsolo); for two pianos (Klaviermusicduo) and finally for piano and disklavier (Disklaviermusic).
