Airy testifies a double compositional attitude: in the first stage an organizational and rational attitude is performing, which associates sounds according to an objective code. Inside this oriented process imagination sets off which, spreading, tends to drown out the planning layout. When this happens, the writing adopts a compositional and graphic stratification: the sounds with which to hatch the organizational plots are noted with 'real notation', those destined at the representation of imagination are entrusted to the 'grace notation'. It is not a matter of decorating the aforesaid plots, but of a spontaneous growth of an unexpected vegetation. The overall compositional strategy, here not revealed, is sensed by the listener. The contemporary presence of 'reason' and 'imagination' seams to be the key feature of Airy. Within the same experience both the layout of the compositional objective structures and the emerging, for association, of subjective expectations are easily revealed.
